Christopher Gray. 1815
« on: Sunday 14 June 09 18:47 BST (UK) »

Hi recently started this side of my family tree, traced it back, and around the Gray's/Smiths/Elliotts of Lincolnshire, Norfolk.
Came to a bit of a stop at Christopher Gray, though believe him to be the son of Thomas and Charlotte....etc.
Found a forum on rootschat.com that was really interested, but can't find it again to chat with the author's
Would be interested in any info on these families - connections etc.
Thanks

Believe am a great granddaughter too! I know my great grandfather was Henry Gray (1891) and his parents were Abraham and Martha Gray (Smith), which, if I've done this right, was brother to Samuel, son of Christopher and Maria Gray (Smith), though am not yet sure were Martha is connected to Maria, though imagine them to be cousins or such! (if you have details would be great). Have downloaded your chat forum (all 68 pages when pasted to 'office', but haven't as yet had time to read it all.
So that make's Christopher my great X's 3 grandfather too, doesn't it?

Would be really good to hear more, as have only just discovered this side of the family, having known about the gypsy connection, but had no details other than, 'great grandad was a Scottish gypsy horse trader', with no birth dates, addresses or anything until I accessed the 1911 census last week, though am still trawling for the 'scottish' connection - though it is a very common scottish surname.

Thanks for replying
