Welcome to Rootschat. Without an exact location in Ireland it'll be difficult to know where to start searching.
Are you sure about dates? IGI (www.familysearch.org) lists a son to Joseph and Letitia- William Henry born 1873 Ontario.
Do you think Joseph and Letitia married in Ireland? I did a quick check in the civil index (covers Catholic marriages 1864-  and other marriages 1845-  ) and no sign of a Joseph Wardell (any spelling) getting married.
Have you found Joseph's death registered in Canada? there might be more information in that record.

joseph died in strathroy, ontario and had 8 children william henry was his son.
Have Canadian side of tree, need irish side.Says Joseph born about 1829 Antrim Co,Lisburn,Ireland,Census Canada has him born abt 1833,Have a tree started from Wardells in Ireland but births around 1929 i have obtained from some church records found on webbsite.
have only come accross one joseph wardell on the allotmet record, don't have any other details about this record.Might be joseph or his dad.The wardell of antrim and down are related, some were quakers and some i think of the irish church.Joseph was not a popular name for males. 1st son jonas, george, john then a william or henry. I'am assuming joseph dad was george or john 1788,1790.i think they were from the Magheragall,Magheragall parish. around lisburm Ireland co antrim.i'am looking for a book called Mageragall 1,2,3 that has grave records, allso a acopy of the allotment with joseph wardell.

Thanks Kevin

It's always best to give us as much detail as possible so that we can either find more information for you or to suggest where to search next.

In Irish research, as with any other sort, you need to work back carefully through all available records to trace a family.
In this case, you have a record (?) saying Joseph Wardell was born c1829 in Lisburn, Co. Antrim, Ireland. If you haven't found his marriage in Canadian records then you could try Irish civil registrations (from 1864 for Catholic marriages and from 1845 for other marriages).
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347

When is the first time you've found Joseph in Canada? are all his children born there? if so, when was the eldest known child born?

Not sure what the 'allotment record' you refer to is supposed to be- perhaps Griffith's Valuation or Tithe Applotment List?

At this point you need more proof in order to connect your Joseph Wardell to anyone else of that name in Co. Antrim. Joseph's marriage record (either in Canada or Ireland) should list his father's name and occupation which would help.

If Joseph Wardell died age 94 in Ontario his death registration says he was born 1830 Ireland son of Joseph Wardell.

Joseph Wardell's Ontario death registration gives his father as Joseph Wardell born Ireland and space for mother has 'Strathroy no.6' which is also filled in below so it looks like a mistake has been made- perhaps informant didn't know the mother's details.

As I mentioned earlier, you need to search step-by-step through all available records for clues- starting with all possible Canadian records.

Joseph wardell was listed on the tithe applotment list antrim co.
how do you find out more information on this list.date age etc.
Tithe Applotment is a list of people who paid tithes- it will not show any personal details, like ages or relationships.

thanks how do you view a copy of the death certificte. i have not signed up for subscriptions on any ancestory sites. don't know which one is best for northern ireland records.Joseph wardell grave has no mention of father or mother on it.searched what i could on various webbsites and joseph only came up once in irish records on the allotment.have lots of wardell but no joseph. I might be going to Strathroy were he was buried near my grandmother, what else could i obtain or look for. Somebody already did a partial family tree from joseph down to my dad in 1998 and it took him 7 years. Paid somebody in ireland to search with no succes.with more data bases coming up i might get lucky one day.
