I am seeking the parents of Elizabeth Ann/e McSharry, who was born about 1864/5 in Leitrim, according to Australian BDM records. Some of her children's birth records spell her surname McSherry, but I think this may be a transcription error. She immigrated to Brisbane in 1878 and was married in 1883 in RC church in Brisbane, Queensland, to James Patrick Davies. For some odd ? reason her parents' names are not listed on her marriage certificate. Also on the same immigration ship was an Andrew McSharry, age 28 - possibly her brother? - if this is of any help. As I have no knowledge of her parents, the IGI records can't help nor the usual Ireland sites until I can find her parents. Am I therefore wondering if some kind lister is able to look up her birth/christening records to establish her parents' names. Any further information - ie. siblings would also be very much appreciated. As she was married in a Catholic Church here, I am supposing she would have been baptised RC in Leitrim.
With thanks and appreciation RobynD

if Elizabeth was born in 1864 or 1865 the she should be included in the Civil register. An online index is available on the familysearch website at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347
If you find possible matches you can order research certs from the GRO - www.groireland.ie
The details they require are record type (birth/marr/death), name, year/quarter, volume & page number
The cert will give you date, place of birth, parents full names etc

Shane - thank you for the familysearch.org pilot program site suggestion. However, I have not been able to access this for the last couple of weeks - opens with a blank screen. I have also tried using the standard LDS search site, and there is one Eliza McSharry, b.1866, Drumahaire, Co. Leitrim; father Bryan, mother Catherine Mackin. Trouble is, the DOB seems a little early.
Would you, or any other kind person have any other suggestions ?
With thanks RobynD

I have now been to the Qld BDM offices and found the original of her marriage certificate to James Patrick Davies, b. Galway, and that the parents of ELIZABETH McSHARRY are JOHN McSHARRY, occupation farmer, and MARY ANN WHITTEN, believed to have married about 1856 in Co. Leitrim.
Elizabeth was born in townland of KINLOUGH, parish of ROSSINVER, Co. LEITRIM about 1862 (marriage cert gives her age as 21 in 1883.
However, on checking various Leitrim and LDS sites, I can't find an Elizabeth McSharry with these parents.
Is there some kind person able to look up Parish records for information on both her parents - their DOB, siblings, etc. and the parents of John McSharry and Mary Ann Whitten.
With thanks Robyn D - in rural NSW, Australia
