Piggotts of St Ives
« on: Monday 15 June 09 19:57 UTC (UK) »

Dear All

I am trying to trace a marriage of James Piggott to Sarah Sharpe around 1820 in the St Ives parishand  similarly the baptism of James Piggott same area around 1790. I would be grateful if anyone could help with this.

Many thanks

Hi, mjb,

This is the closest I've found so far, hope it's of some use:

James PIGGOTT
Birth: 3 Sep 1766, St. Ives, Hunts., England
Christening: 3 Oct 1766, All Saints, St. Ives, Hunts., England
Death: Oct 1830, St. Ives, Hunts., England
Burial: 29 Oct 1830, All Saints, St. Ives, Hunts., England

   Father: Glasden (Gastrel) PIGGOTT
       Mother: Mary CATER

Marriage: Jane BENTHAM,   14 Jul 1801, All Saints, St. Ives, Hunts., England

How certain are you it was Sarah Sharpe? There's a James Piggott and Sarah Barton married at St Ives in 1819.

Thank you so much for trying for me.  As for Sarah Sharp, I am not totally positive but two of the children have Sharpe as the middle name which was common I believe, and this runs through the family.

I will look at the possibility of maybe a second marriage for James Piggott, especially if he was born earlier than thought originally.

Many thanks for help.

Middle names can be carried through several generations often leading back to the family marrying.
Two names still going as middle names in my family go back to marriages in the 1830's
