Hi Karie
Not a problem, would love to try and help with your irish folk!
After some digging I found that there was a Hugh Kerr listed in the 1803 agricultural census of Antrim as living in Ballyweeny, in Ballymoney in the parish of Connor, County Antrim. Ballymoney is situated close to Ballymena- and loads of people in that area are of scottish origin. There isnt any further info on that though. I also found details of a will for a Hugh Kerr in Ballyweeny dated 1829. At the moment PRONI is only indexing the names of pre 1858 wills, but in the future they are going to have the wills themselves transcribed online and searchable for free, but if you cant wait that long you can contact them and they will copy it and send it to you for a fee (dont know how much though!). Here's the link http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_ProniNames/SearchResults.aspx Also on the Ulster Historical Foundation site there are a few early Hugh Kerr county Antrim births- A Hugh Kerr born 1798 in County antrim father George, a Hugh Kerr born 1827 father also called Hugh. Unfortunately this is a pay per view site, each record costs £4. www.ancestryireland.com
I also checked out the gravestone inscriptions for Kerr County Antrim and found the following-
Graveyard Name: Ballyweany Pres Parish: Loughguile Town/Townland: Ballyweeny County: Antrim Surname: KERR
Inscription: In memory of William Kerr, late of Ballyweany, who died, 23d May 1863, aged 49 years, also, his daughter, Isabella Kerr, who died, 14th December 1897, aged 80 years, also, their daughter, Jane Kerr, died, 4th September 1892.
Graveyard Name: Ballyweany Pres Parish: Loughguile Town/Townland: Ballyweeny County: Antrim Surname: KERR Inscription: Erected by William J Kerr, Ballyweany, in memory of his father, Christopher Kerr, who died, 21st July 1898, also, his mother, Agnes, who died, 13th May 1925, aged 17 years, also, the above named William J Kerr, died, 16th March 1945, also, his wife, Elizabeth, died, 11th July 1964, and their son, Christopher, died, 28th January 1978
Also Graveyard Name: Dunaghy Old Parish: Dunaghy Town/Townland: Glebe County: Antrim Surname: KERR Inscription: Erected to the memory of Hugh Kerr late of Ballywafrey* who departed this life the 26th March 1809 aged 67 years, Hugh Kerr 26th March 1809
*This might be a mistranscription of Ballweeny- it's in the same townland.
Hopefully this will give you something to go on.. I will keep looking
Best wishes Liscoole

There are very few pre 1864 records online for N Ireland. When you get back as far as you have done, you really only have parish records to rely on. A tiny number of these are online but the vast majority are held on microfilm at PRONI headquarters in South Belfast. They do have a search facility available, but you need to know the exact church before they will look anything up.
Fragments of the 1851 census of County Antrim did survive and you might be lucky- here's the link.

The further you go back with Ireland, the fewer the resources are. The earliest online resource I can think of is the freeholders search. I looked there but didnt find anything that would narrow down your search- have a look yourself and see what you think.

If you can narrow it down to a certain area I might be able to help more.

We actually have rootschatters who do lookups... If you still need them, please put the names and dates from the BMD which you need, and someone will bookmark the page that they are going to do the lookup for you... J.J.
