I've had it this last week - no idea what it is mind you as I'm not particularly technical but this link sorted it!

they had a spate of Update failures some months back - sorted itself out OK after a week or so ...
Tried running Update manually ?
Otherwise wait till next scheduled Update and see if its cleared - you're not unprotected totally, just missing todays stuff.
If it persists - try the Grisoft Forums to see whats reported - think theres a link somewhere on the AVG 'Control Centre' screen - maybe thru Help menu ?

Added: Rachel's Link looks good

Hi Rachel
Thanks for the link, I tried what it suggested, and didnt make any difference
Hi LKL
Thanks for the info. I'll see how it go's today. Must admit I'm getting a bit niffed with AVG, I wish it had never been installed, so I could use a different Internet Security system, but couldnt get the bl**dy thing out of the system, when I tried to download Kaspersky, it kept blocking it

should be able to do a clean uninstall of AVG - either via Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs or via the Start boxes, All Progs -> AVG-> UnInstall
Do that before trying to download or install an alternative ....

Hi LKL
I have tried that several times, but it seems to leave something behind, cos when I tried to download Kaspersky, it kept coming up with couldnt complete download, cos of AVG . Think I might have to take the comp to the company who made it, and get them to take it out.

most annoying !
possibly leaving the Registry and/or other settings such that Kapersky assumes AVG is there.
I'll have a gander on the AVG Forums ....

Hi Ricky
I think you're with BT so try their free McAfee Security. It got rid of my Norton before it downloaded so it might well ge rid of your AVG.

Hi Gadget
Thanks for your advice, but as I am only on option one, I dont think we get the BT one for free
Hi LKL
Will give that a try later, I'll see if it sorts itself out today, if not, Ill give it a go, and try Kaspersky, at least I get that free

Hi All
Would you believe it, just asked it to update again, which is about the twentieth time and has done so with no problem. Thankyou all, problem sorted for now, but I think I'll try and change to a better Internet Security system
Many thanks for your help
regards ricky
