Digging up the dead and annoying the living...

Does anyone know Shere?
« on: Tuesday 16 June 09 16:24 UTC (UK) »

A number of my ancestors are buried in the St James churchyard at Shere.

I was wondering if there is any other burial places here, as my AA map shows a cemetery to the south west of the village. However I cannot find any evidence of such a place on the satellite maps on Google, nor any other reference to such a cemetery.

Perhaps someone with local knowledge could point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance - John

Hi John,

You could try  this link, as there a couple of close villages round there (Peaselake etc) I am not sure if they have there own old churches, but guess you could "google" or mail the Vicar

John,
I think I can see it on GoogleEarth, and it accords with my memory of visiting my wife's Grandmother's grave about 10 years ago.
I have PM'd you with specifics.
Cheers

Thanks very much Dave, greatly appreciated!

Your Google image was much better than the MultiMap one that i was using, as it seems to have a section of a different map just where you are suggesting!
