I'm still clutching at those straws and trying to break through the proverbial brick wall in my family tree.

My last factual information is as follows:
Wetheringsett:
James Allwood, of this parish,single man and Mary Potter. of this parish, single woman married 17th of May 1773, by Rayner Bellman, curate.

There are no baptisms for Allwood/Allard entered in the period 1743 - 1757, neither is there in the Thwaite, Stoke Ash, Wickem, Skeith or Mendlesham PR's.

James signed his name which may possibly mean that as he was educated he may have been a farmer or merchant. His family do not seem to be from Wetheringsett though. So from whence have James and Mary come from to marry in Wetheringsett. If anyone has any Parish Registers to hand perhaps they could take a look for me to see if they can trace a James Allwood/Allard or Mary Potter.
Someone has informed me that there was a James Allard baptised on the 29 July 1750 at Kettlestone, Norfolk, but some how I still believe that he was a Suffolk man. Have had this brick wall for four years now so any help would be most appreciated.

Hi graham - don't despair - something always comes up!!

Suffolk burial index - 3 entries for Allwood in Wetheringsett + 9 others. of interest:

James Allwood bur,24/7/1808  Wetheringsett

Jane Allwood bur.22/4/1806 Wetheringsett. dau of James & Mary.

John Allwood  17/12/1773 Wetheringsett.  ? poss father of james??

there are also lots of Allards but not a mary in Wetheringsett.

the John Allwood death 1773 is on IGI as chr. 2/12  died 17/12/1773 s of james & Mary.

do you have their children??
