Paton Fleming
« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 06:47 UTC (UK) »

Hi All
I seem to have hit a brick wall.
I am looking for any details on the following:
Alexander Paton son of Thomas Paton from Auterdarren who married a Mary Fleming , daughter of Robert Fleming from Pittenweem.
These two parties married on 31st Oct 1824 in Kirkcauldy.

Any details on the above families would be most appreciated.

Yours Aye

Scotlands People have a death for a Mary Paton, in 1880, Dunfermline. Aged 83. Other surnames -
Fleming.

You could get the full cert from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's ppv but very reasonable.

Hi

I think that that is the one that Bruce has quoted.

I can't see a death for Alexander at the moment.

Alexander Paton died 8th October 1863, Townhill, Dunfermline. Aged 63. Parents - Thomas Paton, coal miner and Elizabeth, maiden name, Arnot, both deceased. James Dalrymple, son in law was the informant.

Note that the term son in law was also used for stepsons at that time.

Ah - all is revealed on Mary Paton nee Fleming's death cert - the informant was Agnes Dalrymple, daughter, so it looks as if Agnes was James's wife.

Mary Paton's parents were Robert Fleming, farm servant and Janet, maiden surname Lindsay, both deceased.
