Hi
Please can anyone help me with the baptism entry for
Wilfred Barrass, born 3rd qtr 1855 at Wakefield?
Wilfred was the son of Henry & Hannah Barrass.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you Carol

Hi, Do you know the church they went to? It makes it easier. In the archives they have All Saints/ Holy Trinity/ St. Andrew. St. John's. St. Marks/ St. Mary's And St.Michael's
Regards

Morning John, thanks for your reply.
Sadly I do not know which church they used. I can tell you however that Wilfred's father Henry Barrass was a Sailor/Mariner who married in Sheffield giving his address as "on the canal" in 1849. First child was born in Sheffield in 1851 - Wilfred followed in 1855 at Wakefield, then the family eventually moved on to Stainforth.
Father Henry did not appear in the 1851 or 1861 or 1871 census with his family, suggesting he may have been in a boat travelling the waterways. Wilfred's mother Hannah lived in Stainforth with her children until 1881 when eventually the couple were together again as, presumably, Henry retired.
I have no geographical knowledge of the area so would not know which church in Wakefield (if any) might be near to water!!!
Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Thank you again in anticipation.
Carol
