blacksheep of the family - purgarvie ?
« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 22:13 UTC (UK) »

one good thing about an uncommon name is that its fairly easy to research ,
on the other hand if you find something bad you can't put the blame on
another line because there isn't one   Embarrassed

william purgavie labourer kirkton of lundie , perthshire
precognition against william purgavie for the crime of rape , or assault with
intent to ravish  date 1859

22nd of april 1859
william purgavie(accused) verdict - not guilty  , sentence : assoilzied simpliciter
and dismissed   note - the advocate depute gave up the case

there is a thomas sturrock purgavie or blair born 1857 to william purgavie
and isabella blair in liff , benvie and invergowrie which is roughly the same area
then i believe he married lillias wallace in 1865
they are on the 1881 census in - liff and benvie so maybe the heat had died
down after 20+ years
