Hello

Do you have anybody in your tree who would match my brick wall?

His name was Donald Grant, married to Margaret Ross.

I have him listed as born in Nigg or Tain and believe he married Margaret Ross in Whitebog, as I can find a listing for a "Daniel Grant" and Margaret Ross in Whitebog on 1 Aug 1834 and their first child May was born in June 1835.

from the 1841 census he was listed as 55 years old (1786-ish)
from the 1851 census he was listed as 60 (1791-ish)
from the 1861 census he was listed as 78 (1783-ish)

He was in the 78th Regiment of Foot and was discharged at 27 years old after 9 years and 5 months of service which, I believe would put his birthdate (that he told them) at around 1785.

and from his death info on scotlands people it lists his age at death as 85 (he passed away in 1867 in Ardersier) which would put him around 1782.  He and Margaret lived their lives in Ardersier after his service at Fort George.

His son John gave the information on his death and listed his parents as Donald Grant (cotton weaver) and Margaret Gair but I can find no info through Scotlands People or the LDS or IGI sites.

The reason I ask if that Fortrose is very close to Whitebog.

Thank you in advance for any info you may have.

(I am puzzled as my gggrandmother's middle name was McKenzie, and she used the crest and wore the tartan so I am confused as to where that name came from as it is not on her mother's side).
