looking for Harriett Siddall
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 14:06 UTC (UK) »

Hello, I'm new to this, I recently joined.
I am looking for my grandmother, Harriett Siddall. she was born in 1901 and died 1951.
She was married to George Henry Siddall, born 1894 and died 1963.
They had two sons that I know of Eric, and George Henry, my father.
My father was born 1932 and died 2005.
They lived in Staveley Derbyshire.
I would love to know more about her as she died before I was born.
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
Anne.

Welcome to RootsChat Anne  Smiley

Your father's birth registration (Dec quarter 1931) shows that his mother's maiden name was Lewis. There seem to have been 2 siblings, Eric and also Vera in 1922.

George H Siddall and Harriett Lewis were married in 1921.

The marriage reference is
December quarter 1921
Chesterfield registration district
Volume 7b page 1750

I can see only one birth registration for Harriett Lewis in Derbyshire in 1900:

Harriet Lewis
Sep 1900 Chesterfield 7b 734

1901 census
RG13/3252 110 27
Whittington, Derbyshire (in Chesterfield registration district)
I think the address is 60 Sheffield Rd
4 rooms occupied

William Lewis, head, 33, Coal Miner, b. Worcestershire
Elizabeth A, wife, 29, b. Derbyshire Newbold
William, son, 9, b. Whittington
Adelina, dau, 7, b. do.
Phoebe A, dau, 5, b. do.
Archie C, son, 3, b. do.
Harriett, dau, 9 mo, b. do.

If you order the marriage certificate for George H Siddall and Harriett (£7 from here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ , using the references shown in my earlier reply), it should confirm her father's name.

hello Tati,
Thank you so much for your help, I have been trying to find out more about her for some time.
I didn't even know about my fathers sister.
I will certainly follow up your suggestion, and now I will be looking into the new branch of the family.
Thanks again, Anne.

sorry about the slow reply I'm having trouble with my internet connection.
