Good Evening
I am lookin for any records of my GGG Grandfather his name was William Beresford born 1811 in Ashbourne Derbyshire, he married a girl from Manchester called Mary Ellen Shorrocks, their two children where born in Bakewell and Ashbourne and their other three where born in Staffordshire, I belong to their forth child William. Any information would be greatly recieved William Beresford was a chair maker.

The Beresford family is supposed to have originated in Fenney Bentley which is a couple of miles up the road from Ashbourne, there is a tomb of the original Beresfords in the Church accompanied by a Guestbook signed by Beresfords from all over the world

1851 census spells his name "berrisford" and puts his age as 36
he is with wife Mary Ellen, childten Thomas major, Sarah Ann, Mary jane -if I have the correct family?

Really I don't know. I had it in my mind that they lived in Staffordshire. Did get my ggg grandfathers birth certificate and naturally as he was born in Fenton thought the whole family where from there. Also thought Beresford was a Stafford name. Like to try and get more information about them , some times you think you have the right family but not always correct.
