WELLS family in Derbyshire
« on: Friday 19 June 09 16:44 UTC (UK) »

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for GEORGE WELLS the father of JOSEPH WELLS b. 1827 at Whitwell, Derbyshire.

Areas of WELLS family interests are Whitwell, Clowne, Barlborough & Eckington.

Brian Waller - Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Hi Liz;

Now that was a super fast reply - thank you.  Smiley

I don't have JOSEPH WELLS birth certificate, only his marriage certificate, he maried MARIA BOWSKILL at Whitwell Parish Church in 1848, his fathers name on the marriage certificate was GEORGE WELLS - profession: agricultural labourer.

I found a GEORGE WELLS married to LUCY ? in the 1841 - 1851 - 1861 - 1871 census each time stating that he was an agricultural labourer. I don't know how to varify if this is the same GEORGE WELLS that I'm looking for.

I found another GEORGE WELLS & his son JOSEPH WELLS, but they were coal mine owners during the early mid 1800's. So this isn't them.

By the looks of it there are lots of WELLS in the same areas.

Thanks for trying though.
