Hi there
am new to family history and am trying to track down when/ how my gt gt gt grandfather came to England.
He was:
Conrad/ Konrad Sames, born 1818 in Dorf Gull, Hessen. He was christened Konrad, but changed it to spell it with a C later
I know he was in the Uk by 1839, as he married in Hull in that year.

He may have travelled with his parents (Johann Ludwig and Elisabetha Sames) but I am not 100% sure of that
If anyone can assist - much appreciated.

Welcome to Rootschat.

Have a look at the Hessen Archives. They have Migration lists at :

Perhaps the Sames on the list are related.

I found a guy who owns a "Familienbuch" of the Lutheran Church of Dorf Güll from 1671. Look at his site, it's in German but you can easily find his email address and perhaps he will do a look-up for you.
