Hannaths of wispington
« on: Monday 06 April 09 21:41 UTC (UK) »

i have the odd surname of Hannath in my tree - and i have never been able go  any further tha a generation back on it.
after 15 years of pure frustration - you are my only hope before i give up completely
to explain
i have
Sarah elizabeth Hannath - born 1835 in wispington
one of 28 -( yep - no typo ) children to George Valantine Hannath and wife mary
i believe only a couple of these children survived.
George Valantine hannath was apparently born in Fishtoft c.1808
and that folks is your lot

please help!

My marriage index has a marriage 21 Oct 1830 at Wispington
George HANNAH to Mary HOWDEN

George's baptism in in the IGI 17 Feb 1804 Fishtoft, surname HANNAHS, parents Thomas and Leonora.  Perhaps George was born on Valentine's day.

You will find an 1803 IGI marriage for Thomas HANNAH at Haugh to a Susanna BAKER - my marriage index has her first name as Linnaras.

More stuff-
Thomas HANNATH buried at South Ormsby 30 Nov 1824 (51) (a child Ann bap there in 1821)
Leonora HANNAH (wid) married Christopher HEWSON 13 Sept 1826 at Alford
perhaps she was the
Lineas HEWSON buried at South Thoresby 15 June 1840 (53)
and he
Christopher HEWSON buried at South Ormsby 30 June 1843 (80)

absolutely flipping amazing! Grin

no wonder i was aimlessly searching in 1841 census for those two!!!
Thomas had passed away - and Leanora had changed her name.....

Sarah Elizabeth's line up to almost present day - have used the middle  names Hannath and Leonora in one form or another.
The last ones were my great uncle.. John Hannath Allen, and my Grandma Nora violet Allen.. so i know you are on the right track with this one. and I'm grinning from ear to ear (sad - i know, should get out more!)

George and Mary had A Lot of children, 28 in total most died in the first few weeks of birth. they seemed to repeat alot of names from one birth to another
 the main names are
Thomas, George (obvious)
 i have a Rachel Robinson Hannath (2nd - 25th June 1834)
and a Robinson Hannath (10th Feb - 3rd march 1834)

which suggests to me a possible surname used as a middle name?? - what do you think? - Rachel was the most prominent name four in total

i think George Valentine's wife was born in Thornton (the only census i have is 1871)

at the moment i have only five children to research...  Cry
1. Sarah Elizabeth -

2. Thomas Hannath - Chr: 2nd Oct 1855 - no more history on this chap

3. Hannah Hannath - now this one is dubious - i have no "Evidence" only a burial record...
Apparently she was born in Maidenwell c.1847 - she died in Hatton aged 19 occ: a servant - the sad thing was the vicar put a footnote in the burial records stating she was a dwarf measuring 30 inches in Height (poor girl, is that all she will be remembered for??) she was buried in Wispington 18th July 1866 - would be nice to find her some day in the census....

4. Rachel Hannath - chr: 13th September 1845 no info on her either

5. Elizabeth Hannath - Chr: 16th June 1843

maybe there was a birth problem.. thats why most children didn't survive... Embarrassed

did anyone find any children for Thomas and/or Leonora???

Thanks for everything!

I mentioned Ann (above) bap 1821 - she appears to have been with George and Mary in 1841.  She was buried 9 July 1844 aged 23.  I didn't spot any other siblings.

oops!
Have found harriet born: 1847 maidenwell - she is actually the niece of George and mary
She can be found in 1851 in Scamblesby with parents James and Eliza (form. peaks - i believe)
someone has found a connection to a james hannath (b.1811 lincolnshire???)
and a john Hannath born 1817)

But as yet although i  can connect to george, i have found no church records to do the same.

i have been given the names of Tathwell - Tetford - Fishtoft and Scamlesby  Huh

Thanks Geoff and gengen
