Can anyone help!!! I can't find anything anywhere on the internet. I need some group or someone to contact.

I am trying to find out about
"The Knights Of The Maccabees Of The World" group who were located at Central City around about 1901.

Can find things about the Maccabees but not about individual groups.

Melia:

I can't find anything for Central City.  It appears that Idaho Springs is located near Central City.  You might be able to find out whom to contact, by writing to the Historical Society of Idaho Springs:

This might be a better site:
http://www.gilpinhistory.org/

It appears that Central City is in the County of Gilpin.  They might be able to answer your question, or point you in the right direction.

Thanks to you all. I will try these sites.

Yes Annie.
My husbands Grt Grandfather William John Noble.
He arrived in America in 1895.
He married Mrs Bessie Rogers in Gilpin County Apr 13 1901.
I can't find when Bessie arrived in America. She was in England in 1891 and in 1900 was living in the village of Russell Gulch, Gilpin.

I have
William John Noble born about 1872-1875 in Cornwall, England.
We think he arrived in America in 1895 on board the New York. He was a miner.
Have just put a post in the look-up section to try and find him in the 1900 census. We assume he was in Colorado, probably Gilpin County as he married there on the 13th April 1901 to Mrs Bessie Rogers(nee Opie).

Amongst his estate papers there is an entry which says
quote
"Life Insurance for 2000 dollars as a member of Golden ....... " unquote (We can't make out the name it may start with an 'L' and it looks a bit like lueen)
Quote
"Tent No 8 of the Golden Knights of the Maccabees of the World located at Central City, Colorado United States of America"
Unquote.

He died in 1920 in South Africa.

Let me know if you need anything else. Here's hoping!!!

That's interesting there are Uren's in the tree.
Can you tell me their names and if they were born in England.

You can see the 1900 Census for free here:  http://labs.familysearch.org/

On the off-chance it might help, I found an article from 1909 in the Colorado Springs Gazette about the Knights Of The Maccabees Of The World giving a death benefit of $3000 to Tillie Davison, widow of Samuel Davison.

This is my family.
Alfred was half brother to William Noble.
Still no luck on the Maccabees though.

I am trying to find out what the missing name is on the group of Maccabees that William joined as quoted in my previous post.
He was a
"Member of Golden ........ tent No 8 of the  Knights of the Maccabees of the world located at Central city, Colorado."

It looks like 'Lueen' but we are not sure and we would like to find out more about this group if there is anything.

By googling, I found
The Maccabees, State hdqtrs
It mentions Rainier Tent No 3; Seattle Tent No 8, Alki Tent No 33 and Washington Tent No 33.

Perhaps your word is the name of a town???
