Hi

The Scotlands People site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk list three deaths of a John Muir of approx that age between 1911 and 1925 in Edinburgh:

1918 - St Giles. Aged 51
1922 - Morningside. Aged 57
1925 - St Giles.  Aged 57

There's no way of telling if either of these are him but they may be. It's a pay to view site and a search plus the full image of the death cert will cost 6 credits each (£1.20)

Added - I believe Dalrymple Place was in St Cuthberts
