Hi Bevty
"Any information" is a rather loose term ?
Can you tell us please, just what you are wanting to find out about William S. and Priscilla BAKER ?

Thanks for your response. William's much younger sister (or daughter) is my g.grandmother who married Priscilla's younger brother. William and Annie (my gr grandmother) seem to both have the same father but different mothers. Annie sailed to NZ alone and lived at William and Priscilla's home in Dunedin when she married. I am hoping any earlier information of William may help with tracing Annies lineage. I have always 'assumed' she was his half sister but now wonder if maybe she was actually his daughter from an earlier marriage/relationship. Baker is such a common name in England that I get bogged down looking at lists.

There is another burial in Dunedin of a "Priscilla BAKER" :
Priscilla BAKER - died 9 February 1867 - aged not recorded Buried Southern Cemetery - Block 4P - Plot 213
[The online BDM index doesn't record "age at death" either].
It's possible that the above is an "infant death" ? [Online BDM has a birth of a "Priscilla BAKER - registered in 1866.]

Hi Bevty
Hmmm ... I'm doubtful that any "general- type" information found in NZ for William, will assist in sorting out this mystery. But we may be able to point you in the direction of where to look.
You presumably have the death certificate for William ?
And for Annie ? Death cert ? Marriage Cert ?
* Can you supply some more details ?
* Where and when was Annie born ?
* Where was William born ?
* What names are given for both their sets of parents ?

From LDS Fiche I have William Stephen BAKER c.26 May 1839. Stepney, St Mary. William Baker/Sally I have William Stephen's D/C indicating he was born 1839 fa.William Stephen BAKER mo. Sally Baker nee Hannibal.
Annie Maria BAKER was b 1861 in Colchester, Essex came to NZ 1879 fa William BAKER mo Eleanor RICHMOND from her D/C.
Annie m Frederick SAVAGE at St Pauls Church (later cathedral) and entry for her: age 22 a spinster born England presently of Kaikorai Valley, the dau of William, a labourer and Eleanor nee Richmond.
I put my query on e New Zealand pages in the hope that I may have made some contact with any of Edward and Priscillas descendants who may have some information/papers/stories. I have heaps about Annie and Frederick descendants.

Hi Bevty
Mmmm ... yes, interesting information you have there. (Of course, despite that fact that the father's of William BAKER and Annie BAKER, have the same name, it may be that they are not in fact related at all ? But I'll get back to that later).
Some questions :
* When did William BAKER arrive in New Zealand ?
* When was Frederick SAVAGE (husband of Annie, brother of Priscilla) born ?

They are William Stephen BAKER and his wife Priscilla SAVAGE. I have info on the SAVAGE descendants but am looking for anything I can find of William's ancestors and Annie Maria BAKER who I thought of as his much younger sister. William was born 1839 London and Annie 1862 in Colchester, Essex. Fathers are same name but different mothers so he could be a half bro, uncle or father. My idea of searching in NZ was that maybe some of Edward and Priscilla's descendants may be in possession of some family documents/photos/stories.
Just to complicate things, Annie Maria married Priscilla's youngest brother!!!

My Amazing Mother 1912-1982

Hi All,
I am going to start from scratch here with records;
Marriage; William BAKER Sally HUNNIBALL June 1838 Stepney, 2 356
Notice different spelling of surname of Sally
Possible death;
Sally BAKER March 1844 St George East 2 89
In this case if William/Sally are parents ofWilliam born 1839 we should be able to find them 1841 Census. Will look now
Trish
