John Nelson (born approx 1814 Banbury) married Sophia Riley (born approx 1815 Neithrop) prior to 1851. Sophia is listed as a school mistress on the 1851 census - does anyone have any information on either of these two individuals, or suggestions as to where I could look for details of Sophia's work as a school mistress in Banbury?

Thomas Pinfold (born approx 1825) married Ann Brookes (born approx 1817)(previously married to ?? Belton and had two sons) - again, any details on parents/siblings of either?

I visited them once many moons ago and remember that they were very helpful and produced various interesting publications

also the Oxfordshire family history soc. produces publications - some on fiche and now some on CD that cover this area - including parish registers and census returns - the earlier census may be worth a try

Replying to my own posts now!

It was in fact Ann Pinfold, nee Brookes, previously married to Belton, that was the school mistress in 1851, not Sophia Riley.

Any in formation on the Brookes family of Oxfordshire would be brilliant.
