1871 and 1881 Pearson
« on: Saturday 20 June 09 15:17 BST (UK) »

Hello

I would like to find Edward Pearson who was born in 1853, Castleford in the 1871 and 1881 censuses.

I have tried, with various combinations on The Genealogist site with no success.  He was with his parents in Womersley in 1861 and married Maria Allatt in 1878 ( Pontefract, June). In 1881 Maria was living with her parents but no sign of Edward. Edward and Maria emigrated to America (in 1882 according to the American 1900 census).

Any help very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi,

I did find this on www.castlegarden.org  ......

Arriving in New York from Liverpool aboard the Germanic on 28th August, 1882

Edward Pearson, Laborer, 28, Origin Country USA!!!
Maria Pearson, Wife, 27, Origin Country Great Britain
Annie Pearson, Child/Youngster, 2 Origin Country Great Britain
Edward Pearson, Infant, 10 months, Origin County Great Britain

I wonder if the reason we can`t find Edward in the 1871 and 81 census is that he was already in the States or Canada.  The little so and so`s travelled back and forth more than we think.  My Gt Gt Uncle and his wife did the same.

Regards,
Mo
