Hi
I'm helping my cousin's wife with her tree and we've come up against the dreaded brick wall.

Her Grandmother was FLORENCE E CHILVERS born 1885 Thorpe Abbotts Norfolk.

According to Florence's marriage certificate to Arthur Simms in 1911 her father was EDWARD CHILVERS (deceased) a farmer. Edward was born in 1831 Thorpe Abott and died 1895.

I believe EDWARD CHILVERS married Louisa Botwright (Botright) in 1879.

The question is who were EDWARD CHILVER'S parents? Is there any one who has access to Parish records and can help?

Hi Tati - we meet again!

That looks a possible, perhaps the s of Chilvers was added later as it's definately there on the marriage certificate of Florence.

Now need to find Mary's maiden name from Parish records if possible anyone. Judging by Alfred's age I would think around 1820. However if she was a Suffolk lass the marriage may have taken place there.

Florence seems to have been registered as Edith Florence Chilvers but in 1891 their surname is Chilver as well.

The birthplace for Mary in 1851 is actually Metfield.

IGI shows:

Thomas Chilvers married Mary Mayhew 26/10/1813 Metfield
