James Ash ~ Oxford Marriage.
« on: Saturday 20 June 09 21:29 UTC (UK) »

 Cheesy Hello,
Would someone be kind enough to look for his marriage please.  Cool

I think the daughter Sarah Ash was born Islip 30/7/1769.

Many thanks

Hello Lesanne

I'm wondering whether James ASH is a red herring!  The IGI has six ASH baptisms in Islip:

5 Jan 1766    James, son of Edward and Sarah
21 Jul 1767    Mary, dau of James and Sarah
30 Jul 1769   Sarah, dau of James and Sarah
1 May 1772   Thomas, son of Edward and Sarah
11 Dec 1774   Henry, son of Edward and Sarah
20 Jan 1782   Prudence, dau of Edward and Sarah

The IGI also has a marriage between Edward ASH and Sarah LINE in Deddington in 1765 which would fit nicely with the first baptism above but, as Toby has already said, there is no marriage for a James and Sarah.  It is not unknown for the vicar or parish clerk to record one or other of the parents' names incorrectly and I think this could be the case here.

Ah ha, thank you both so very much.... one wall a bit smaller now.  Cool

So James is Sarah's brother mistaken for Edward, her father.....  Tongue

I've had a query on an Edward Ash Norris(1832-1836), this would tie up, I hope, with your info.

Sarah marries William Norris Islip in 1791 (bond only so far). I'm trying to find both sets of parents and hitting that awful brickwall with both......

Thanks again.

Cheesy Hi Sue, Glad you've come in on this one.  Wink

I am soooo confuddled. Sarah Ash, nice easy, simple name......... huh!

she married William Norris (Norice) in Islip 1791.

So where are their parents...... ? where did they come from...... ? where did they go...... ?

James Ash and Sarah are 'IGI' parents........  Roll Eyes  Huh

Henry and Elizabeth Norris (their son & d-i-l) had Edward Ash Norris (1832-36)

it would appear that Edwards middle name comes from his grandmater

do you think possibly they could have simply copied the fathers name don from the ine above or perhaps Edward was not present at Sarahs bp in 1769 and for some reason James name was written down?

Ann Ash from 1841 dont want to speculate but obviously related to Joseph as he is listed frist and then Ann then Joseph mother Sarah so would assume that Ann is josephs wife if not sister Huh
