Census look up - Ambrose family

Hi,

I have census information for my GGG Grandfather John Ambrose b. 1823 at Liverpool, for the years 1841 up to 1881.    Unfortunately I don't have access to Ancestry at the moment, and I am looking for him for 1891 and 1901.    He was living at 6 Smith Street, Manchester with his daughter Elizabeth Collier and family in 1881 census, John Ambrose was widowed.   We know that he died around 1910.
So was wondering if we could have more information on the family for those two census years.

Also I am looking for Ernest Ambrose b. 1891 Manchester, trying to ascertain his parents names.
He married in 1914 to Maud Barlow and then migrated to Canada in 1921.   Still trying to find the family line he comes through.   His father's name could be Thomas, Joseph, William, Jonathon, James or John Henry.

Forgot to say, did you have any luck with Ernest Ambrose at all?   Only looking for 1901 census, as he was born 1891.

Well, the only Ernest Ambrose I can see is age 7 on the census, son of a widowed John H Ambrose born Manchester ca. 1856.

Doubt if he's the one, really  Undecided

Hi Tati,

Can you give me the details on that please, I may be able to check further with my family.  Ernest was a cousin of my grandfather, John Alfred Collier, shown in 1891 census as being 10 years of age then

Thanks for this, though its very interesting, Ernest's father was obviously married before, will have to look further into this.

It is definitely our family, as I know Ernest had a sister Evelyn.

Well thank you very much for so much of this, what an interesting life these people had, how sad, John lost two wives, no wonder Ernest ended up migrating to Canada.

Hi Tati,

I thought I had finished this subject on John Henry Ambrose, but was wondering if you had access to the 1911 census, as I would like to be able to determine when he died.

I am still thinking of the possibility that he may have migrated to Canada, as other family members did.
