Hi

I have just come across this forum and wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I found the following on ancestry but want to follow it up and finf out more. Where's the best place to look and what extra info might I find?

Won't be too much more to see on the original image.

The baptisms for that period are on the IGI. Do you know how to locate likley siblings?

I found him on there but like you said, no other info.

As I'm new to all of this how would I search further back or clarify that this is the George Weston that I'm looking for?

Ok, so what happened to 'your' George Weston later in life?
What criteria/marriages/ occurrences/ family / occupation/ location etc

He married Elizabeth Lewis in 1832 in Great Ness (confirmed)
and he died in 1843 in Saint Mary Shrewsbury age 45

He had 4 children Sarah b 1833, George b.1835 Emma b. 1838 James b.1841

Will this info lead me to info further back then?

Well, it gets more difficult without parental info from marriages.

Does his occupation at marriage tie in with family trade/traditions from the IGI baptisms?
What names witnessed his marriage? could they be siblings?
Does his name appear as witness on (assumed sibling) marriages?
Do any of his kids appear in later census as niece/nephew for example( or as visitor to family members)?

So start with the other kids b to the same-named parents and see if they turn up near 'your' George.
No simple answer I'm afraid.

Thanks Pauline, will try as suggested although the marriage cert only shows names and year do you think I will get a full cert or was this the norm for that era?

you should get names, marital condition  (of this parish (or not)) and witness names.

All I have is Weston  george of Montford
= Elizth LEWIS
Great Ness Salop 1832

But if I look up Elizth Lewis on ancestry I get that they were married in St. Newlyn In Pyder although the original image still shows Great Ness Salop

Do you think I can order a "normal" cert which will show more?

What you appear to have looked at is Pallot's Marriage Index.
I'd get hold of the film of the parish record if I were you.

There will be a filmed copy of the book recording Baptisms, Marriages .

You can view that film at any LDS centre, although if it's not one near Salop then it may have to be ordered in.
