All born here

This may be worth a look

Mmm bit of a glitch here I think

His death cert shows him age 45 in 1843 but the 1841 census puts him aged 33/35

Hadn't noticed this before! Which is most likely to be correct?

Any suggestions? and thanks

Pauline would have a better answer on this one then I have  Smiley Please correct me if Iam wrong Pauline.

A lot of people of this era could not read or write so what was put down was what the ennumerator heard. Which could sometimes account for the inaccuracies.
also in the 1841 census

"The ages of people over 15 years old were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years. Therefore, someone who was actually 24 years would have their age listed as 20, and someone who was actually 27 years old would have their age listed as 25."

Despite the age discrepancy, I wouldn't worry. It still seems to be the correct one.

(my Gr*5 grandad managed to age 2 years between his death registration & his burial on the same day in 1840...) Roll Eyes
