Topic: How To Find USA NC Birth Entry? (Read 198 times)

I know the name, exact date and state but not the county and the way the USA records seem to be indexed I'm having a hard time finding the person I am looking for.
Although this personis deceased they have living relatives (with a fairly distinct name) so I don't want to post it publicly.
I'm looking at North Carolina in 1939, probably Lee or Moore county but I really don't know for sure.
If anyone has any tips on how to locate the birth entry (and the later marriage entry (I know the spouse and approximate timeframe)) I'd be most greatful.
I have the birth entries of the children of the marriage, I also have the parents/siblings of the spouse.

Ancestry.com has a North Carolina birth index for both of those counties from that time frame.

I can't find the birth I'm looking for on there though.
The indexing system is kind of odd and there isn't anything coming up on the transcribed indexes at all.
I've been looking through the images but I'm getting nowhere at all.

Just in case you don't notice the PM I sent... I think I found the birth!! It was different by 1 day from what you told me but the information fits with an obituary I found for someone I think was the person's mother!! I'm so excited!
