Can anyone please help with my Palin search!!
I thought I had found a whole family but I don't think it's mine  Angry

George  Palin
William (bill)Herbert Palin 1898
Rosa or Rose Palin
Anthony Palin

William Herbert was my Great Grandfather, all of these people are definately my family but I can't find actual records for all of them with the parents.

I found a William Herbert W. Derby 1898 but I believe that he belongs to another family. Their William Herbert died in 1994 and mine died in the 1950's I think. My Grandma hated her father and the details are sketchy on him.
He married Eunice Evans in 1922.

I would love to find his parents names so I can go further back. I am off to the library to get some vouchers for some sites but wondered if anyone could help at all? Please......   Grin

Many thanks

Hi Carole and thanks for the speedy reply!
I had found the transcript for this but I still dont know if this is him as the other families William Herbert was born in the same place  Roll Eyes

I don't know the names of my G G G Granparents except that the mothers maiden name was Dodd. (But then so was the other families which made me think I had a eureka moment! )
My head hurts  Cheesy

I haven't looked at the census but I forgot to add Maud Palin too.

I did find a couple of them together with the parents listed as James Palin and mother ' Hannah' No surname. This was on the familysearch.org site?
But I can't for the life of me find a palin- dodd marriage in the whole of lancashire. Or a birth for a Hannah Dodd. I can find a James Palin marriage to a Hannah Sutcliffe but then my grandma would be wrong and she's a wise old Bird!
I feel like I am going round in  circles  Cheesy
Thanks for your help again!

Oh my that was quick! Why didn't I find it on there!!! I've been looking all week........ Huh

Have a couple more names to go on now, it still has no mention of Aunt Maud though.

These names are the same as the other ladies but her William Herbert isnt mine. Now I am really confused!  Shocked

Fran.

She sent me this
William Anthony Palin & Sarah Ellen  had three children:
1):  William Herbert, b. 3 June1898 at Wavertree Parish,W.Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.
-Christened 7 Aug.1898, St. Bridget, Wavertree, Lancashire, England. Died 14 Dec. 1994 at  Seaforth, Ont. Canada.
- Data has not been researched regarding William Herbert's marital status.
- During World War 1, William Herbert served in the British Army as a Private. (iii)
-William emigrated to Canada when he was 28 years of age when he arrived on March 14th, in 1926 at the Port of St. John, New Brunswick. (ii)
- He lived to be 96 years of age, deceasing on December 14, 1994, at Seaforth, Ontario, Canada. (**)

So this is not my William Herbert!  Undecided as he died in England....

Ok - lets start with what we know is fact about him - his marriage to Eunice

Marriages June qtr 1922

Eunice Evans   Hawarden  11b 417
William H Palin Hawarden  11b 417

You will need to buy a copy of his marriage cert to find his age and his fathers name and occupation.  It should then be possible to find him on the 1901/1911 census with the right family

There is no other William Herbert Palin birth on freebmd in any other county apart from that 1898 one

Yes I have that thank you  Cheesy
The other brothers and sisters I have of William Herbert were born before the marriage to Sarah Dodd in 1898 so maybe he was married before........... ahah!

LOL I am going to have to dig harder.

Thankyou so much again.  Cheesy

These tricky ancestors.......

There is only one feasible marriage between a Sarah Dodd and a Palin and that is the one I showed above.

If his mother was Sarah Dodd then his father must be William Anthony Palin.  if he had a brother George as well then they must be the family I showed above on the 1901 census.

Rosa was born after 1901 and this could be "Maud"

Births Sep 1901
Lucy Maud Palin  West Derby  8b 644

The only other Dodd/Palin marriage was in 1845 so is clearly not in the running

The 1901 census entry I showed above is the couple who married in 1897 and who are the parents of William Herbert

If you have a copy of the Evans/Palin 1922 marriage cert - who was William Herberts father on it and what was his occupation

Oh no I meant I had the definate dates and place for that marriage, sorry!  Embarrassed

I dont actually know that Sarah Dodd is the mother, only that the maiden name was Dodd.  I don't know the first names of either of the GGG Grandparents, so it's all a shot in the dark but it does sound like them.

Sorry for being dim, been a long day with my twins Grin and I found 21 'Laws' who are definately my family.

Thankyou, you are so much quicker than me at the mo. Am trying to find all four sets of G Grandparents families!

The 1911 census shows George Craven Palin and Lucy Maud Palin in Cheshire - not Lancashire

Hawarden is only just over the border from Cheshire, so they may have been visiting family.

Hi Fran,
I know your posting is a while ago but I just spotted it.
I'm building my husband's tree for him and his grandmother was May Palin, born in Bootle in 1892, and the Palins are a very big family as far as I can tell.
I've got May's line back to a family in Northwich in Cheshire in the early 1800s, and there seems to have been a general move from Cheshire to the Liverpool area during that century.
I found them quite hard to track because there were so many, and it was hard to separate two different branches at one time.
Having looked at the people you are looking for it is a different branch, but if any of this crosses over with the family you are searching, let me know.
