John son of James CLARKE and Elizabeth (father's occ Higler) (sic) 31 August 1828.

Do you know if his father was James?

Hello Janet,
I believe this is probably the correct baptism, he was the son of James Clarke and Elizabeth Griffin, various census records showed a possible birth date ranging from 1825 to 1827, so that baptism would appear to be his.
