Does anyone know if it is possible to refine the categories any more that those offered?
eg. I am looking for a birth in Dublin North, Sept quarter 1885.
I can put in Dublin, but not Dublin North. I can put in 1885, but not the relevant quarter.
Is there any way of doing this?
Any answers should be of the one word variety, and non technical. Assume no knowledge!

I find the Irish BMDs search works better if you don't try and put too much detail in.
Its a little tempremental and sometimes dones give any results at all if I enter dates and place 
Don't forget that its not complete, there are many records missing....
added - have you seen the threads on this over on the Ireland board? There were lots of hints and tips given when it was first published on the pilot site.

The problem is that I am looking only for Kathleen Elizabeth, I do not know her surname
This is what I am trying to discover.
I will just have to wait for the 1901 Dublin Census. She should be there somewhere with her sisters, whose surname I do know - Boshell. They had the same father but Kathleen had a different mother, and was not registered as Boshell. I have searched myself twice and had a search done also.

Do you know where she was in 1911, 1911 Dublin is on the nationalarchives.ie site and of course the Uk one is now online

I have her in Dublin 1911 as Kate Boshell. She was not with her family.
She did not marry.
She died in 1927 aged 42 in Crumpsall Manchester, where she was a nursing sister. On her death cert. she was described as the daughter of John Edward Boshell, Captain, Merchant service. The informant was her sister Annie, my grandmother.

I found these, but I don't know how you are going to verify which one she is if no father is :-\named!

I did receive the Whitty birth cert. It gave the father as John Whitty.
