Wood Keeper and Woodman Completed

Hi ! Just started delving into my family tree, and after years of thinking that my great grandfather came from Scotland, I found out from the 1911 Census that he was born in Morpeth. Tracing back to his roots there, I found that his father was a 'Wood Keeper' , and his grandfather was a 'Woodman'. Were these the terms that were used to describe the work of a carpenter ? Or was a wood keeper / woodman something totally different?

/Ward/Man
Employed in maintenance & protection of woodlands 
i have seen another census where a man was desribed as a woodkeeper,and then in the next described as a woodman...i think they are the same job.

But could a 'woodman' also be a carpenter back in 1851 ?

I think a wood keeper is just that - he looks after the welfare of a wood or forest and a woodman cuts down the trees.

A Wood Keeper, aka Woodland Caretaker or Forester, supervised forest workmen, and had local charge of forestry operations.

A Woodman, of forest worker, was employed in woodlands in planting and protecting the trees, thining, felling, protecting from fire etc. ,

Thank you both for your detailed response. My great grandfather [ from Morpeth] was a carpenter , and that's probably why I thought maybe there was a connection.
