Hi Rebecca and Gadget
From the 1851 entry in Carluke that Gadget posted, there was a baby daughter, Ann who shows as I month old b. Carluke. I think this is her entry on IGI:
ANN LIGHTBODY Birth: 14 FEB 1851 Carluke - mother shows as Agnes Wotherspoon.
There is a death showing in 1864 in Carluke for an Agnes Lightbody/Wotherspoon.
I think the other William and Agnes couple has mother as LAMBIE:
MARGARET LIGHTBODY Birth: 03 MAY 1856 Dalserf
The 'daughter' Agnes showing in 1871 maybe a granddaughter given Agnes' age?

Hi Monica
That death of Agnes in 1864 looks a pretty good match for our Agnes. Does it give her age?
Must be off - hospital appointment

Age at death for that 1864 entry for Agnes is 51 so born c. 1813.

A very good fit, Monica
i can't find a death for William, b 1811 +/- 5 in Lanarkshire, 1861 onwards. I've used L*b*d* and Lightbody with soundex but only one in St Rollox that doesn't fit
Gadget
Added - I took the birth range out and there is one possible:
Carluke, 1898, aged 80
A bit younger than the census ages but it's a possible.

I wonder if William remarried following Agnes' death?
There are these possible entries:
1881:
William Lightbody 69, Agricultural Labourer, b. Carnwath Marion Lightbody 69, wife, b . Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire James Lightbody 12, grandson, b. Carluke Archibald Lightbody 4, grandson, b. Carluke
Address: Private House, Carluke
And this marriage showing on IGI:
WILLIAM LIGHTBODY and MARION MARTIN Marriage: 28 JUL 1871 in Carluke

No worry, hume - we all do it at times. I'm left handed and my left fingers work faster than my right when I'm tyiping. You'll often see me typing ahve or something
That's a good link you've found and it should give Rebecca lots of info that she can check up on
Looks a strong possible, Monica

thanks for all your help.
The two couples with Agnes and William Lightbody as parents are really confusing! Because they are born around similar areas and times.
So you guy's think that "my" William and Agnes Lightbosy are the one's with Agnes Wotherspoon? I was thinking this but then in 1851 census I realized that they had a lot of young children - so where did they go by 1861? That's when I started considering the other Lightbody family ...
Thanks
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca
There are two Lightbody families - one in Dalserf and one in Carluke. The couple in Carluke is the one who have the 3 year old William Shaw living with them in 1861.
