HI Tim
What a wonderful find. I wonder if the local history library at Dewsbury might be interested in a copy or loan of the pics. I'm not old enough to remember the era but I can still still make out some of the places as per current roads and places within the area. I only live half hour bus ride away and it was nice to see how it used to be esecially the bus station.

Tim, great pictures and what Wendy says about the Library at Penistone being given a copy if you felt so inclined, is a good idea- I think they'd be delighted.

Tim, thanks so much for sharing these photos. I moved to Dewsbury in the early '70's when I was 5 (now live in Ireland) and these bring back so many memories. I remember the new bus station being built but looking at these pictures I have no idea how so much major work was afforded! Dewsbury is a bit shabby in parts but there is still so much wonderful Victorian architecture. One thing though - does anyone know what that old building is next to the Parish church? It looks kind of like a typical haunted house. I don't know if it is where the "new" swimming pool now is (i.e. the one they built about 35 years ago). Tink
