I'm trying to find the parents of

Richard J Spall
Birth: 1815 Islington, Middlesex, England 
Death: 1889 Poplar, Middlesex 

He married 3 times, to Eliza, Ann Richards and to Sarah A.

Perhaps the only way to find out at least 1 parent, the father, you would need to purchase a marriage cert seems you have the choice of 3.

I looked at the IGI and only 1 Richard Spall showed, he may well be your Richards parents

poss reason for baptism as an adult was marriage

I to am looking for the same persons. I have searched some parish records,but want someone in England to look further. I want to look at records for the Islington Church area prior to September  1837. Richard and Ann's first son [ William] born Jan 1839,would suggest that a marriage took place prior to March 1838 .Do you live in England ?.  If so can you visit those places that have the records in London and check the Church registers.The other post that mentions the 1796 birth is not Richard.

Islington parish registers - St Marys, are held at the London Metropolitan Archives (they have very poor coverage on the IGI)

It would be possible to order and view the microfilms of the registers at your local family history centre

The Richard whose death was registered in 1889 was Richard James

The marriage certificates for his last two marriages would give the details of his father. You can purchase the certificates direct from the General Registry Office

Thank You Valda for your reply.
Its obvious that you have sought to assist me in my quest. I have the information that you have notated,it is unfortunate that both 2nd & 3rd marriage certs [and Death Certs] that I have , don't have Richard's fathers name on them. There is a couple ,Richard and Eliza  Spall recorded in the 1841 census [aged in their 70's] living in some form of public housing in Middlesex ,whom I can't positively link with Richard J.
I have ordered and viewed some of the films at my local LDS Church. So I'll keep looking.Regards Les.

It is usual that if a father isn't named on a marriage certificate that is an indication of illegitimacy. English death certificates don't name parents - that's standard.
