John Rook
« on: Tuesday 23 June 09 19:04 UTC (UK) »

Have just found my grandmother's half brother (John Rook, born Brighton 1867) on the 1911 census.
He was living in Sculcoates and I believe he still earned his living as a boilermaker/riveter or something associated with that trade.
If anyone can add anything like his family details or even an address from a street directory, it would be most appeciated.

If you leave the top search part blank and enter John Rook in the "Other Members of the Household" section and the reference RD521 SD8 ED19 I think you will find that the household has a variety of adults living in it, presumably a lodging house, nobody else by the surname Rook was there.

Thanks Laurina.
I think the few words on the website you quoted were mine unfortunately.
Thanks also MaryA.
The method didn't further my Rook research for he must have remained unmarried, but it certainly helped for it provided an additional way of getting even more out of the 1911 index.
