Evenin' all,
During my trips through the past, I've come across a first cousin of my Great Grandmother named William RICHARD who was born in Rhossili and baptised there on 21 May 1835. His parents were William RICHARD and Emma (nee THOMAS). Their address at the time of the baptism, according to the Rhossili PR index and Glamorgan Baptisms, is given as "Sorry Bargain". Honest - I kid you not!!!
There must be a story behind the name; do any of our Gower experts have any ideas? I would dearly love to know.
Regards, Lee.

Hi again,
Further to the above, I've done a search of both CDs of Glamorgan Baptisms and found one other mention of "Sorry Bargain". That's the address given in the baptism index for William HOPKIN, baptised 19 Jan 1831 at Rhossili.
Regards, Lee.

Hi Bev,
You're absolutely marvellous - the drinks are on me when I finally make it to Swansea!

Bev - you're a genius!
I hate to say how cross I was at being defeated by this one - so relieved to see the answer!
I'm guessing it wasn't a terribly productive piece of land - maybe they bought a "mochan in a poke"?!?
