Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Are you saying that the whole family died after the 1871 census?

The census is not indexed by street name - only by alphabet.  The 1871 has 319 entries for Hugh Williams in Anglesey so we need some help to determine the right family

Would you post FULL 1871 details please of all family members plus their ages and birthplaces and also Hugh's occupation

Just noticed Hugh1801 was a widower on the 1871 census. His wifes name was Catherine 1806. They had 5 sons and 2 daughters

William 1832
Robert 1837
Edward 1838
Hugh 1841
John 1843
Jane 1846
Elinor 1849

I've traced the life of Robert up to 1891 living in Llangwyllog, but have been unable to find his gravestone, do date.
I'm asuming that the remaining children got married and moved elsehere during 1870 -1780s

There are 3 Hugh Williams b 1801 on the 1871 census for Anglesey - 2 are married and the other is a farm servant

Williams is a very common name in Wales so to find your Hugh Williams we need very precise details as requested above

How old was he on the 1871 census

What is the full birthplace shown for him?

Was he living alone or were there any other family members living with him - please give FULL details of names, ages and birthplaces of all people living with him in 1871 only

1861 shows birthplace as Ceidio, Anglesey 1801

I cannot find a widowed Hugh Williams with that profile in 1871

There is a Hugh Williams b 1801 Anglesey with a wife Catherine living in Bangor Caernarvonshire but he is a gardener

Hi Carole,

Hugh was fron Ceidio (rhosgeidio), everyone else is from Llanerchymedd or Amlwch as it is listed during the early census. I've gone back to the 1841 census. At the moment I'm trying to find out how many of them have been buried at Llanerchymedd. It is a rather large cemetary, and I'm hoping somebody has a copy of MI as prepared by Gwynedd family history group.

I'm particularly interested in Robert, having searched without lick through the cemetaries at Llangwyllog, Llanfihangel Tre'r beirdd, Tregaian and Rhosmeirch.

I've just found him aged 69. He was aged 49 in 1851 60 in 1861 so his birthyear was 1801/02 (ish)

I had hoped that his age may help in establishing what year he died but there are a number of possibilities between 1871-1881 on freebmd

Yes Carole, williams is a very popular surname in this area and I seem to have more than my fair share of Williamses, Hughes, Jones, Davies, Parry, Griffith and Owen.

Thanks for your time anyway.
