Hi
Paperspast has an interesting birth notice that I am hoping someone can please help me with. I am wondering if I have at last found a sibling for my Robert William WILSON after searching for many years.
The notice from the Waikato Times dated 14th May 1874 tells of the birth of a son to Mr John WILSON and his wife, of Tararu, on the 10th May 1874. I do know that my WILSON line was in this area around that time.
I have looked at the Birth Index on the DIA site, but it does not have the district codes like the fiche do. Nor does this year have parents names for many of the entries to help me narrow down the search.
Is there someone out there who would be kind enough to check the birth fiche for 1874 and see if they can pinpoint this birth for me as I would love to know the childs name ??

Was Christina also a child, just there are school records for a John Wilson parent Tararu 1880's
If no one can do it by fiche, it may be easier for me just to go and look at the Tararu school records, I can't see any on the index for A Robert

Looking at NZSG index under guardian JNO some others (of Tararu)
WILLIAM b 24 May 187? The ? is what is there
last day 13 April 1883 destination High School
not him it was 1872 on HIgh School record
ADAM b 5 OCt 1878
there are later children surname HORNE c/- Jno Wilson of Tararu

I don't know of any siblings for Robert William due to the large number of births of that surname in the time period. Having parents named John and Jane didn't help the search at all either.. 
So Christina could well have been a sibling of Robert's. I do know that this birth that I am trying to trace was for a son, but what his name was is anyone's guess. How many others there were... who knows.
Nor do I know how long the family was in the Thames area.
So not a lot to go on, sorry.

No I don't have a death cert for either John or Jane... I do however have 9 pages of possibles that if I win the Lotto I might order all of in case one is mine. 
So I checked out that link.. thanks for that........ and I now know that there were 2 John WILSON and family in the Thames/Tararu area at the same time.......... great.
Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess.

What is the definite info you have?
Is Robert William Wilson the definite you have
?You have his parents names from marriage or birth cert.
Then we can work back easier

Robert is the only link that I have.
His birth gives his parents names and I got their marriage from that. I have posted on this one before so will go and see if I can find the thread so that you can see what has been done before. It was the newspaper notice that made me pick this one up again.

Still no idea why he changed from WILLIAMS to WILSON as a surname. No knowledge of first wife either for the same reason that I don't have a death for either him or Jane.......... so many to choose from.
What I want most is to know if there were any siblings for Robert..... that might help pinpoint where in NZ they were .... and then from that find out which deaths are the ones that I want.
Think that this might just be one of those for the too hard basket.

was robert's birth year 1875? off certificate or is this from marriage cert.
some odd things that may become importnat
Robert William wilson's dau Elen in 1899 from school records was with Mrs Woods, then she went to Baillie St School. Is this a relation?
The Tararu birth notice is def not yours and relates to John Wilson who died 1916 of Tararu med to Margaret Horne and ? one other
1875 there is a John Wilson death, says he had 8 sons, the wife janet. they came to NZ on SS Jane Gifford. I think shes the Mrs J in the directories and 1893 electoral roll Janet at Waiotahi creek.
1893 apart from John at Tararu there is John at Moanataiari creek and Pollen st
One school record 1879 was for Willijoe WILSON guardian JOhn WIlson Pollen St, going from Waiokaraka school to Catholic school.

Thanks for that Althea... that helps enormously to know that the notice is not for my WILSON family.
I have John and Jane's ITM and Marr Cert, Robert William's Birth, Marr and Death Certs.
Don't have any WOOD family yet.. so maybe a link there.... will follow that one up thanks.
John and Janet have been proven to not be my link. Thanks anyway.

For Robert William....... none.
All I have for this family is what I listed above.
Thought that I might get a lead on Jane via her brother Robert MILLER from his wife Isabella's obit... have asked for a news lookup on this one earlier today
