hello again,john thomas spain married mary ann rapson on 14th august 1849 margate,the marriage cert gives her father as daniel rapson,labourer.she was born 1840 margate and died 1917,margate.ive been unable to find a mary ann rapson born 1840 margate with a father daniel,or anything on a daniel rapson.the nearest ive found is mary dopson(dobson) born 1840,margate,daughter of daniel born 1796,margate,labourer.hes back to dobson on the next census so unlikely.any assistance with this one would be appreciated,many thanks,nel.

Hi Nelwild,

FreeBMD shows her name as Dapson (marriage in 1859) and in 1851, there's a Mary Dopson, daughter of Daniel and Sophia, on the census for Margate HO107/1629 173 11, as you have found. Sounds right, doesn't it?

Are you sure you're looking at the right person ?  Married aged 9    Shocked

mumm44,your right,even for my family marriage at nine does seem a bit young.seriously though,i think i meant 1859,as tatis info bears out.tati,thanks for that,i do think this is the most likely one,even more so now i know she was dapson on on freebmd,regards,nel.

Mary Ann Dapson was baptised St John Margate 2 Feb 1840 to Daniel and Sophia.
Daniel and Sophia Jarman married 10th April 1836 St John's
Mary Ann married John Thomas Spain 14th August 1859 at St John's, he is 23 she is 20. Witnessed by Susanna Eliza Spain and George Cain.

No Relation, but hope its helps
