Hi, I am going to visit Bradford in August from west Australia, would like to catch up with any rellies that have ties to Keighley or surrounding areas. Families that could tie in would be decendants of Tom Hooley, Charles Henry Hooley b. 1904, Gladys Hooley b. 1897, Clarice Hooley b 1902, Doris Hooley b 1899. Would appreciate any information. Cheers

Kaye, The Bradforf Library is said to have an excellent Local Studies section... it might be worth a visit to see if your Hooleys are on ay of their indexes or whatever...
Also if you have addresses for places they lived in Bradford it would be interesting to go past the houses and have a look.

Hi,
Have you searched on Genes Reunited for anyone else researching the family?
A letter about your visit to a local newspaper in Keighley (Keighley News) or Bradford (Telegraph & Argus) might also lead to some family members.
Keighley is not far from Haworth; try to plan a visit to see the Parsonage where the Bronte family lived.

Hi Nanny Jan,
I have found some Hooleys on Genes who live in Bradford and who we are hoping to meet up with. I am not sure if they have any information of the Hooleys in Keighley, but here's hoping. The time span I am really interested in is from 1920 on. We hope to see as much as we can while there. That is a great idea to contact the news paper.
Thank you
Kaye

Kaye, I'm really envious of you haveing time in the Bradfoprd Library... there and the tw large Cemeteries are where I'd head in Bradford
And as NannyJan says, Haworth is well worth a visit- it's a lovely little village as well as having the interest of the Bronte's house- the graveyard attached to the church has Bronte graves.

Hi Kaye, for what it's worth Patricia Liddlemoor married Maurice Hooley circa 1965 (he was a rector) - 2 children Anthony and Graham. The Liddlemoors lived in Keighley. Parents Joe b 1912 and Nora nee Dewhirst b 1909 (died in Brisbane Aus. 1999).

Hi Dave,
Did Maurice Hooley also live and marry Patricia in Keighley, or was it just the Liddlemores that lived there?
Cheers Kaye

Hi Kaye... I, too, am investigating Hooleys and am off to the UK (from Melbourne) in September to do some research, hoping to get to Yorkshire after Cornwall and Wales. My Hooleys seem to be centred on the Dewsbury/Batley area but originating in the Macclesfield and Chester areas in the late 1700s. One had the somewhat unusual name of Major Hooley - a name, not a rank. I'd love to hear if you have any Hooley links to Dewsbuary. Cheers, Tonybee

Hi Tonybee, Nice to hear from you. I don't know of any of our Hooleys coming from the Dewsbury/Bately area but I will certainly keep that in mine. We are heading out early tomorrow to the UK from Perth, so getting pretty excited about it all now that it is finally happening.
Best of luck with your search.
Cheers Kaye
