Re: Charlotte Lawrence/ Laurence- b. abt Sept 1819- Wye, Kent

Her parents = George Lawrence( b. abt 1793-95) Wye Kent & Frances (Scott?)- married 1817 Brook Kent

Charlotte's- daughter Ann Frances Lawrence (b 8 Dec 1842-Wye Kent) father =not given. (1841 census- She was living with George & Elizabeth Parkin)

Charlotte Laurence married Richard Wood on 1 Nov 1845 in West Ashford Kent

Charlotte Laurence & Richard Wood's children:

= Jane, George, Richard, Ellen Charlotte, George William, Frances M

I think George Lawrence's parents= John (b.1754-Wye)& Susanna (b.abt 1755-Wye) Lawrence

Can anyone confirm that these are George's parents? Who were Frances Scott's parents?

Hi Jila,

I can only help with the parents of Frances Scott.  From the Archdeacon's Transcripts for Brook are the following entries:

SCOTT   Frances   christened 28 May   1797, parents: Stephen/Elizabeth

Elizabeth   Chr.   06 Apr   1794   Stephen/Elizabeth
Mary   Chr.   08 Nov   1796   Stephen/Elizabeth
Rebecca   Chr.   20 Mar   1801   Stephen/Elizabeth, child buried 24 June 1801, infant
Stephen   Chr.   20 Mar   1801   Stephen/Elizabeth, child buried 24 June 1801, infant
Stephen   Chr.   11 Jul   1802   Stephen/Elizabeth

Sarah buried 31 July 1807 daughter of Stephen/Elizabeth

Unfortunately, the parents do not seem to have married at Brook.  Neither do I have the register beyond 1812 so I am unable to check names of witnesses to the marriage.  But perhaps this information can be of help in some small way.

Hi Jila

I found this in the parish records for Brook:

17 Sep 1818 - George Lawrence & Frances Scott. Marriage witnesses were Jn Cullen and Richard Punyard

I also found these in the parish records for Wye:

Children of  John and Susanna baptised at Wye

John (1775) Alice (1777) Elizabeth (1778) Charlotte (1780) Silas (1782) Dennis (1784) Valentine (1787) Stephen (1789) Mary Ann (1791) George (1793) Edward (1796)

John and Susanna were not married at Brook or Wye

5 Oct 1774 - John Laurence & Susanna Pay. Witnesses were Charles Spice & Charles Spice Jnr
