Does anyone know anything about William Rose who came to South Australia in 1854 on the Navarino. He travelled with his wife Patty and their two children, also his sisters Elizabeth and Martha Rose. One of his daughters, Louisa married Alfred Siffoli. I can't find any trace of William, Patty and Martha.

Hi BIH,
I think this may be their burials. (Patty is often a nickname for Martha)
ROSE Martha died 23 Dec 1883 Pt Wakefield Dist Gil 133 219. She was aged 68 married, residence Pt Wakefield, relative Wiliam ROSE - husband
ROSE William died 9 Oct 1901 Pt Wakefield Dist Gil 280 407. He was aged 73 status relative not recorded residence Pt Wakefield
There appear to be 3 sisters on board Elizabeth, Mary and Martha

Martha was his sister, not his wife, Elizabeth is my g/g grandmother and Mary (Mary Jane) lived in New South Wales.

Sorry I was called away. I think you will find Martha who died in Pt Wakefield is his wife not his sister. Patty can be a nickname for Martha. Records states she was married, relative William ROSE - Husband. aged 68 in 1883 gives a birth around 1815ish. His sister Martha was 27 in 1854 so she was born around 1827.

I believe Martha has had her name incorrectly transcribed at marriage. Robert DUNCAN and Martha ROSE have several children in SA. Looking at 1841 census for Guernsey I note the father was Jeremiah.

Children born to Robert DUNCAN and Martha ROSE in SA
Margaret 15 Mar 1860 Pt Adelaide Dist Ade 15 319 died 20 Mar 1862 Pt Adelaide Dist Ade 9 355. (aged 2 years father Robert Duncan)
Emily Jane 22 July 1861 Pt Adelaide Dist PtA 20 150
Robert 18 Oct 1863 Pt Adelaide Dist Ade 27 460
William 27 Aug 1867 Pt Adelaide Dist Ade 36 564
DUNCAN Martha died 15 Oct 1877 Semaphore Dist PtA She was aged 50, residence Semaphore, married, relative Robert DUNCAN - husband

I'm more confused than ever.
Elizabeth married Henry Halford, he drowned off the cape of good hope sometime after the 1854 marriage and upto 1857 when she married Charles Burns. Will have to look up marriage record for Martha Rowe
