Looking at the original page on FreeBMD, the Vol/page number is 1b-213 or 243 or 263.

Checking the marriages for any Lydia in the same qtr, same year, same place shows 5 marriages.

The only one that matches my guess on the page number was Lydia Greenslade - Vol 1b, Page 213.

Checking how many people are listed on the same Vol/Page for Lydia's marriage shows that there's a guy missing!

Logic says that John Elbon married Lydia Greenslade.

Hopefully someone else will check my logic.

Hope that makes sense  Roll Eyes

Looking at image for John Elbon I read it as 1b 213

freeBMD transcriber must have had a bad image as shows 2 (4 or 6) 3

So he is 213 and the logic re Lydia sounds good

Hi,
The 1871 census should show you the first name of John's wife- good way to cross check.

I was assuming that Pam knew the bride's first name as she said he married a Lydia. FreeBMD would have shown Lydia Greenslade if John had been entered as 213 rather than 2(46)3
