I am looking at a scan of a Dec 21, 1820 bapt. record, and it gives father's name as "Robert Shand Farmer Cartmyres". Witnesses are farmers from Nether Boyndlie and Muirstone.

I am guessing that "Cartmyres" is actually "Kirkmyres". Is that reasonable, or is/was there a Cartmyres in the area 190 years ago? Kirkmyres appears to be about midway between the two others.

Hi Nick. I checked the OS 6" to the mile maps, 1840s - 1880s. The Gazetteer brought up Kirkmyres but nothing for Cartmyres.
