One of Many Family Lines

Clan Stewart and the LYLE families
« on: Friday 25 February 05 17:48 UTC (UK) »

My LYLE ancestors were born in Govan Parish, Lanarkshire.  One couple was married in Barony Parish, Lanarkshire and one couple was married in Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire.

In the marriage record from Renfrewshire, there is a variation of LYLE - LEILL.  In the US, LISLE has been used almost since the time of immigration which is unknown.   It is guess-timated the family arrived in the late 1700's, sometime between 1775 and 1799.  Also unknown is who traveled to America as the birthdates of some family members would preclude their traveling.   Part of the trouble in verifying their presence is that there are several men by the same name.

Of particular interest is information about the Clan and any related information about the LYLE families.  Thanks, RedFox
