Head Dainty Marriage - Leigh
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 09:20 BST (UK) »

Hi, am trying to find details of the marriage between Norman Edge born in Tyldesley in 1870 and Margaret Dainty born in Leigh in 1886.
Normans Parents were John and Margaret Edge - Margaret's maiden name was Bowker.
Margaret's (Dainty) parents were Robert and Jane Ellen Dainty - Jane's maiden name was Hart.
I am assuming that My Norman is also the same one that married Eveline Rogerson in 1892.
I found both Norman and Eveline with their children in the 1901 census.
Norman then disappears from any England records, although I am pretty sure I found Eveline's death in the 20's.
The death certificate that I have for him shows that he was married to Margaret Dainty in Leigh. Norman was a Methodist & Margaret a Catholic.
I also have a passenger ticket for the Paparoa sailing to New Zealand in 1906, they are listed here as Mr & Mrs Edge.
Is some one can help me with finding a record of their marriage I would be very very grateful. Smiley

If Eveline, the first Mrs E,  didnt die till the 1920's but Norman emigrated in1906 with a different Mrs Edge ... I have a sneaky suspicion there may not be an actual marriage to the 2nd Mrs E (if there was it would be bigamous wouldnt it) .....
but I will have a look on FreeBMD - you can look there easily yourself - it is free!

modified - no cant see marriage

Have you got Eveline and children on 1911?

Have you got the marriage cert to Eveline to prove it is thesame Norman? you say you have assumed this .... dodgy!!!!

The death of an Evelyn Edge, in Leigh in 1921 was for a baby of one year old.
I cant see another Eve* Edge death in Leigh...

think this might be the death reg refered to

Eveline Edge 59 Leigh march qtr 1928 vol 8c pg 293

agree that purchase of the 1892 marriage cert would look to be a good idea

Hi

You have me at an advantage but your Death source for Norman Edge is wife Margaret Dainty born in Leigh in 1886  Huh

If your death cert was New Zeland then I can't comment but our English death certificates! give the person who reported or was with the deceased at death. Many people have made false assumptions here.  Huh

Derbyshire, Warwick. Yorkshire, Stafford and Worcestershire.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth.
