Hi there,
I am taking up offers of help from Thinlizy, Daval57 and others!
Looking for William PEARSON b.?... d 1881 Married ? Janet WILSON B ..?.. d 1891. I believe they lived in Glasgow or not too far away.
They had at least one son James Wilson b 1877 d 1926 - there may have been others. I think James was born in Burnhead - but I don't know where that is in relation to Glasgow.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks for your offers.
Cheers,
Wiggy

Cheers, Wiggy Pretty sure your James is living with his gran, Janet Wilson/Pearson at Penpoint, Dumfries in 1891. She's a bit old to be his mum as she was 71. James Wilson Pearson is living with his Uncle James Pearson in 1901 at Dumfries.
In earlier census records William Pearson (James's grandfather) says he was born Crawford/Leadhills around 1823.
regards, Nel

Many thanks Nel.
I know someone from the family was doing some research some years ago that took them to Dumfries - so that sounds about right.
Just been looking at the tree again, and I reckon I have a missing generation somewhere. You are right, William and Janet are too old to have been James Wilson's parents - I'll have to think about that some more.

Thanks to your hints, I have had a new look at the family tree in the bible and found the missing generation. The scribbled notes make much more sense now! Mary, daughter of William and Janet Pearson, seems to be mother of James. She married but no date given and I think it was after birth of James. Husband was William Stitt, who died in 1904.

Thanks for the Pearson tree T,
Have been trying to enter it on my tree but having some trouble with the third generation back.
The first Pearson you have pre 1776 with no name - is he the father of James 1776 and William 1781 - but with different wives - one of them unknown - is that how I read it? With Janet Stitt he had three girls and a boy and with the unknown he had Susanna John and the William in whom I am interested - correct?
One other question - you say Mary died as a spinster - though we know she married William Stitt?? Very interesting - maybe she didn't marry William - maybe that was put in by the family to hide the 'illegitimate' birth of James.
Thanks you for your searching T - most grateful.
