James Greggains, s/o William, married prior to 1870 and had two children before his wife died. On Nov. 6,1875 he married second Martha Allison, d/o Isaac Allison, farmer of Quarry Bank. They had four children, including my grandfather James Greggains who married Susannah Atkinson and emmigrated to Canada in 1911. Any information about any of these people and places would be much appreciated.

lizdb & Geoff-E, Thank you. What's the easist way to get access to those censusreports? Are they in earlier censuses?

1881 is free to search - try www.familysearch.org
the others can be viewed at various subscriptions sites or pay to view sites.
But if you hang on a sec, i'll try to give you my transcriptions. Thanks to Geoff-E's excellent work, I must be having an off day!

1881 RG11 5173 20 10 Brigham James Greggins 48 Limestone quarryman bn Broughton Martha 39 Dressmaker bn Brigham Elizabeth 13 bn Brigham Mary R 11 bn Dearham Margaret 4 bn Brigham James 2 bn Brigham
1871 RG10 5238 75 22 Brigham James Greggins 38 something quarryman bn brideworth? MAry 37 bn ? (transcribed Cuphamon) Elizabeth jane 3 bn Brigham MAry Ruth 1 bn Dearham
Getting JAmes's marriage certs will show what name he gave for his father, and so help with earlier censuses.

Thank you, got it. That's why I couldn't find it on that map, Crossbarrow is just southeast of Clifton, below that map. What is the best site for reproduceable maps?
