Fowler-James
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 11:59 UTC (UK) »

James Fowler was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1855.  His parents were
Alexander Fowler and Mary Sim.  At some stage he migrated to South Africe and
it is possible he may have  worked for DeBeers. He died in 1892 aged 37 and is buried in
J'burg. I don't know when he went to SA or if he was married.
Is is possible to search for a grave site and death cert.
Grateful for any help.

Hello Tulipoo

Have you tried checking shipping lists out of Scotland, to South Africa?   Huh

They should soon turn up James Fowler's migration details and may even given his occupation and intended place of residence in South Africa.   Roll Eyes

You could also search through the N.A.A.I.R.S. site, particularly in the Transvaal section for a Death Notice and maybe a marriage.   Cool

Do you know why he died at such a young age?   Huh

Cheers

Hi Ian

Don't be put off, as sometimes the NAAIRS site loads, and sometimes it doesn't!  Wink

Also, if you can't fathom some of the terms, i.e. MCSE  = Death Notice, or the areas referred to, please don't hesitate to ask.   Shocked

I would think to that de Beers Human Resources Dept of their HQ in Johannesburg might be able to help you?

Happy searching

Cheers
